“Silent Prayers” is the first solo album of the talented violinist Edo Notarloberti (Argine/Ashram). This album is a mix of classical music, of chamber music, baroque. The tracks are very melodic full of melancholy and romantism. Of course we are very, very far from metal and hard rock, but if you like classical music like I do, you will just have to stop and listen in a complete silence this album. Valentina Del Giudice’s vocals are just simply superb, all in beauty, in lyrism, ethereal, rich in feelings, a high pitched notes singing which perfectly goes with the tracks. Salvio Sammartino brings a somehow “rock” touch to the tracks all keeping a lyric side.
The tracks are full of emotion, which is given by the vocals but also by the instruments. The melodic lines of the violin are just simply sublime with all that this instrument can bring of melancholy and melody. The melodies are supported by the piano which plays sometimes the same melodies; other times melodies which give the rhythms of the tracks. The cello accompanies perfectly the two instruments and amplifies the melancholic and sad side of the tracks. The track « Silent Prayer » is just simply superb and we can just be delight with such a track. However the others are all as successful. The compositions, and some are uniquely instrumental, are very rich musically speaking and when the voice is there it is simply an additional beauty and the “cherry on the cake”.
The all of it is harmonious, without any excess; to be short great music which all staying classical brings its modern touch especially in the track « The Glass Man » and its soft touch. They are compositions made for violin/piano and cello especially « L’Extravagance » lyrical inspiration track with melodic lines of the violin which stay classic.
To discover if you like the style.
