The extreme metal scene in Greece is thriving and it’s perhaps the most important feature we have to “export”. There’s an abundance of bands and a great variety of sounds to choose from, but extreme music is the common denominator for most of them. So, here we have WOLFHOWL, a one man band from the beautiful island of Kefalonia, Greece, to offer us extreme old school black metal. Faethon, the man behind this band is responsible for everything… he writes the songs, plays all the instruments and of course does the vocals and the production, too. What you’ll be able to enjoy on this EP, “My Return to the Mountains”, is pure and straightforward black metal with an epic, frozen atmosphere that is influenced and inspired by the primal Norwegian black metal scene. The vocals are really good and sound very demonic, thus managing to enhance the coldness and darkness of the songs, however, the clean ones that appear in the last track and try to a majestic character with their narrative character, have space for further improvement. “My Return to the Mountains” is a good work for the fans of the old fashioned black metal sound, especially for the ones who love DARKTHRONE, BURZUM and early BATHORY. Hurry up, because it’s limited to 600 copies only.
