This double CD « Dying Breed » is a compilation of the same group under two different names: Discovery from 1986 to 1989 and Held Under from 1991 to 1997. The style of the American group is progressive power metal. So it is a re-release from Stormspell Records that I have which has been remasterized.
If you like groups such as Savatage, Queensrÿche even Iron Maiden; I must believe that you will appreciate Held Under. The tracks under Held Under are heavier, powerful and have more technique but the melodic and progressive sides are still present especially on the guitars lines. Vocally speaking Mike Stevens has a melodic voice, somehow rock’n’roll, rather in the high pitched, a well at place and right voice.
It is too bad that Mike Stevens, because of a very important car accident (where he was severely injured) cannot sing anymore because frankly he is an excellent vocalist and this group should have released other albums as the compositions are excellent, of course a little “typically” 80s but I’m sure that the group would have evolved with its time… really too bad… At least thanks to Stormspell Records to have re-released these CDs and so to make you discover this group to all those would do not know it.
