Tracklist « The Downfall Of Fire –Enmek » :
« The Downfall Of Fïre-Enmek » is the first album of the French group Lord Shades. The style of the group is an epic and atmospheric death/black metal. The “Prelude” is used as an intro to the album, atmospheric track with declamation which is followed on the very beginning of “Despair, Hope & Wrath”. All through this album we will find much worked arrangements, especially with divers and varied ambiences but also keyboards layers which are sometimes symphonic as well as orchestrations and choirs. This concept album is inspired by the medieval fantasy literature. The rhythmic are in general fast even very fast like for example in “Despair, Hope & Wrath” but we also have slower passages with sometimes declamations like in “Heading North” and the using of instruments such as flute, percussions, accordion bring a real plus to the ambiences and to the atmospheres. The vocals, however well at place are for me a little too monotonous, not enough varied besides some done attempts in some tracks especially in “Encounter”, I even think that the voice is lacking of some power, unless the mixing has been done and wanted like this…
