Inward is a group created in 2002 by Second Spirit. The style of the group was at first black metal which has evolved towards death metal.
“Ruins Of Inland” from Inward is a dark, very dark album… all through the songs we talk about hatred, destruction, death. The death metal of the group is heavy, direct and aggressive.
The tracks are direct, with very often repetitive riffs, it is the same for the drums which can be slow and repetitive however very numerous passages are very fast like especially in “Born From Chaos”. The ambiences and the atmospheres are dark, melancholic and worrying with however passages which are lighter and more melodic. All along this along are mixed subtly different styles that is to say that are succeeding black metal passages, doom even atmospheric metal but the all of it stays extremely dark. The vocals are extreme; shouting like desperated, but at least always full of aggressiveness, of anger and of despair.
Some guitars passages are melodic and “unlight” somehow the atmosphere of the songs however the lines can be aggressive especially when they are saturated even destructured. The drums are powerful an efficient and reinforce the aggressive side of the tracks.
If you like powerful and direct death metal, this album should please you.
