If you like U2 or Coldplay you just only can appreciate this album «Anthems For The Damned» from Filter. It is not with this album that Filter will revolutionize the world of music... It is a good album but nothing more. Some tracks sound very Indus and are melodic, others are very heavy, and some more mid tempo even pop tendency. The compositions are worked and rightly interpreted but the whole seems to me rather «soft» as some tracks are really powerful, I think that it is due to Richard Patrick’s voice, a rather soft voice even “slushy”… a little in a Chris Martin manner… it is rather a dark and engaged album at the image of « Soldiers Of Misfortune » dedicated to a fan who died in Iraq. Even if some tracks are pleasant to listen, this opus does not mark me more than that…
