Tracklist « The Eternal Plague »:
After two demos the portugues from the death metal group Requiem Laus have just released their first album « The Eternal Plague ». the group is not new in the metal world as it has been created in 1990 under the name of Requiem. The tracks are containing superb melodic passages, much worked at guitars with dark atmospheres and ambiences. Sometimes some riffs are so slow that we would nearly say it is doom. The influences of the group are wide with groups such as Moonspell, My Dying Bride and others. There are a lot of rhythmic changings in each of the tracks especially in « Falling Faster » where we have mid tempo passages and others faster where the guitars are more sharp. It is sure that the musicians are controlling their instruments and the guitar player is not a beginner and all by having a certain technique, he knows to keep a great musicality and melody in his guitars parts. We have uniquely instrumental tracks « Ad vitam », « Mors » and « Peccata Munti » very melodic and also very melancholic, that we could considered as interludes which bring softness, delicacy even romantism which contrast with all the other tracks of the album much more aggressive. Moreover we have keyboards passages in some tracks. Personally I find the vocals too much monotonous and too little varied, but they are well at place and efficient.
