Bad Reputation/Underclass Release : april 2008 Tracklist « Time To Go » : Come To Bury The Exit Closer Yet A Hundred Years Rolling thunder Blue And Grey Live In A Box Burden Blues Before The Censors Time To Go Child Of The Storm Eternal As It was “Time To Go” is the first album from the French group Red Mourning. The style of the group is a mix of hardcore, punk, blues, sludge… the tracks are brutal, direct and energetic with a variety of vocals us we have harmonies of vocals, mix of hardcore and clear vocals. The tracks are rather varied because the guitars playing are varied, but also we also have harmonica passages like in « A Hundred Years » or « Burden Blues ». The guitar is sometimes saturated and always efficient. The rhythmic section is powerful with well present bass and cutting drums. The tracks also alternate fast even very fast passages and others slower ones like among others « Rolling thunder » where we have bluesy guitars passages. The vocals are well at place, relatively varied, aggressive at wishes in the hardcore passages but the clear vocals are very well done and melodic. Some tracks are surprising in their conception and rather well done like « Blue And Grey » with bluesy parts even stoner ones rather delicate and slow and the violence and brutality of the hardcore, very well done contrast ! The musicians control perfectly their instruments and are well at place. Moreover the album has the benefit of a very good production which give the tracks even more powerful and efficient. If you like this genre of metal Red Mourning is a talented group to discover rapidly !
