Well, actually this release is not for sale, only for promo with the aim to find a record deal, to have this officially released on CD and Vinyl... But the guys have been kind enough to send me one for review.. Thanks ! SERPENT SAINTS is a danish Heavy Metal band, existing since 2004 and even if so far the band has been rather calm - no gig before November 2007 and no other release - the guys haven't spent their rehearsal times drinking (or not only ! he !) 'cos this "Leather Lucifer" definitely shows a band with a great potential & even impressive for all those who loves old-school Heavy Metal and bands like (early) Iron Maiden, Cloven Hoof, Mercyful Fate, Cirith Ungol, Heavy Load, Black Sabbath and other obscure Heavy Metal legends ! Songs are mixing fast and mid-tempo parts, with great guitar-solos and breaks sometimes reminding of early Iron Maiden (like the melodious and then fast one on "Deathride") or King Diamond style and even Alice Cooper with that theatrical touch like on the song "Leather Lucifer". "Devil's Night" is for sure a hell of a song with a very catchy chorus and one of their fastest songs with "Bleed upon The Cross" and its demoniac atmospheres and chorus this time closer to Alice Cooper's horror style ! All along those 5 songs, the guitar works have to be underlined, the harmonies & duality are really pleasant & great to hear, meanwhile the rythmics are giving a hell of a power to the whole stuff with class ! The vocal style is something a bit scorched but also melodious & raging, having this dose of aggressiveness & madness, making the band sounding unique & fuckin' HEAVY !!! This 5-song promo is a real back in time-trip, when true Heavy Metal ruled & when the scene was not so pathetic as it can be now ! This is a band for real die-hard maniacs !
