The German heavy/power metal Custard has released some months ago their latest album in date « Forces Remain ». the tracks are epic and melodic at the same time with a well present powerful side. It is a rich album musically speaking with melodic riffs and here and there the presence of the keyboards are there bringing different ambiences. The album alternates fast songs like « The Dragonslayer » or « Heaven Strikes », others are more mid tempos and some have several rhythmic changings like « Warcraft » and of course the ballad « Kind Of Space ». Oliver Strasser has a relatively wide vocals rage, which he knows to use pretty well, moreover he is very often accompanied by choirs in the refrains. For me the track which can really be taken out of the album, but it is the one I also prefer is « Warcraft » for its rhythmic variations, its guitars solo and Oliver’s astounding voice on this track. Moreover the songs ally melodies, musicality and sometimes aggressiveness.
At the end Custard gives us a long album (60 minute) but varied and if you like powerful melodic heavy metal, “Forces Remain” is to discover”.
