Tracklist “Vengeance” :
“Vengeance” is Crom’s first album after several demos. Crom is at the base a « one man band » in the person of Walter Gross, former Dark Fortress. The style is a Viking/pagan power metal epic and melodic with a clear, powerful, melodic and well at place voice. Besides a superb voice ! The tracks are very often mid tempos, even ballads, but we also have faster tracks like « Vengeance Part I » and the atmospheres which are coming from the songs are relatively melancholic. The compositions are mixes of traditional metal, epic, pagan metal, with acoustic passages. The guitars work is huge on the riffs level, rather well structured, powerful, but also on the melodies sides. The tracks have sometimes important rhythmic changing, always well put, with always a well present epic side. The vocals are just simple superb, bringing a melancholic touch to the tracks, all in power and very often the tracks are sung in mid tempos even if the tracks are fast. Very often choirs appear in the song, whatever in background melodies, or for accompany in the refrains. I admit having hard time to take out one track rather than another one are they all are great quality compositions, and it is an album that appreciate as a whole.
