CHRISTICIDE hails from France and... surprise, it's released on an aussie label - no doubt that if some "frenchies" hooked interest from a foreign label, it is that there's for sure something great here ! The artwork first... really well-done, well-thought, meticulous & skilful... far away from the usual stupid & ridiculous clichés of the genre... no pictures of members disguised like angry pinguins, only sober & dark pictures... no dirty black & white drawings that an uninspired 5-year old child could be the author, only nice & skilful pictures from older times, always about Evil (of course). Musically,
CHRISTICIDE is in a cold, aggressive & unhealthy Black Metal register, with old-school thrash touches, especially concerning the guitar works. The result is fast & brutal with a very good production ! That's what we could think of the album after the first listenings, but after several ones, we really "enter" in the band's style and one realizes the quality of the album, that is really well-played & structured, elaborate & detailed ! I mainly think about the guitar works, both guitar are wroking together very well, one being in a basic & powerful register, the other in a more subtle & (almost) melodious one.. The result is really very pleasant & impressive, this duality bringing more consistency to those dark & unhealthy atmospheres ! This album is a successfully completed Black Metal album, alot better than the average current productions of the style ! Now I understand much better why it gained the interest of a label from Australia, a country known for its high quality extreme metal scene !
