Codeon is a group coming from Finland and « Source » is the first album of the group. The style of the group is a death/thrash metal at the same time melodic and technique. The riffs and the soli are technique but still keep an “accessible” site and do not loss themselves in the guitaristic technique… the atmospheres and the ambiences of the tracks are cold. The compositions are direct, with a certain work in the structures which could be even progressive. The rhythmic section is powerful with a fast drummer who controls his drums. If musically there is nothing negative to say, I find the vocals too linear with a lack of power, especially compared to the musical power. It is hard to take out a track rather than another one as they all are as powerful one another with good guitars playings.
At th end Codeon gives us an excellent first opus which lets presage good things to come for the future of the group.
