Dockyard1/Underclass Release : september 19th 2008 Tracklist « Tales Of The Magician » : Tale I - Intro: Let the Spell Begin Tale II - Prime Evil Tale III - Underworld Terror Tale IV - Sandstorm Tale V - Terminal Day Tale VI - Dark Ritual (Hear your Master's Call) Tale VII - Minstrel's Domain Tale VIII - Siege on Zelgian Tale IX - Crossing the Last Gate Tale X - Finale: Let the Harmony Endure After a very atmospheric and symphonic keyboards intro, with very lyrical choirs we enter into the Tales Of The Magician’s world and their album « Tales Of The Magician ». The Brazilian group continues a little what was doing Angra in the André Matos times… the group mixes power metal to progressive, to speed metal, symphonic even neo-classic, the all much worked and relatively complex. It is a concept album which relates the journey of the magician Zhaldor who wants to make free his country Zelgian from the terror of the Hell. The tracks are powerful and epic with worked guitars lines and excellent soli. The compositions are very worked with sometimes progressive and always high level structures. The rhythmics are heavy and powerful sometimes thrash, very often speed. The keyboards give very melodic passages and make richer the tracks. Dan Rubin vocals are excellent and very varied and the refrains are very often reinforced by very present choirs sometimes vey lyric. They are musicians who control perfectly their instruments and the vocalist is excellent … no doubt that this group will go far !!! An excellent first album, rich and varied in its composition which is bad to miss at its release. Line up : Dan Rubin (chant) (vocals) Renato Osorio (guitare/backing vocals) (guitars/backing vocals) Cristiano Schmitt (guitare) (guitars) Elizandro Max (basse/backing vocals) (bass/backing vocals) Zé Bocchi (batterie) (drums)
