Lanfear is a German power/progressive group which has released its 5th album « X To The Power Of Ten ». If for sure the power metal is much present, I do think it is the progressive side which can be take out in this album. The vocalist, Nuno Miguel De Barros Fernandes (former Anguish) is good, well at place, knowing to evolve vocally speaking on different ranges. The tracks are catching, melodic with good instrumental parts at keyboards but also good guitars soli. The tracks are varied with changing in rhythms which are sometimes very progressive like in « Synaptogenesis ». The compositions are well structured but are sometimes missing of some depth of the keyboards point of view which could bring an undeniable plus if the orchestrations would have been richer but it still is that it is a good album, very pleasant to listen.
