This is the very first album« A Little South Of Zero » from the group A Poetic Yesterday. The style of the group is screamcore/post hardcore. It is surely not an album which will bring something new to the genre but the tracks are well worked with very melodic passages from the guitars, even if I find the riffs too much repetitive on some tracks. They are musicians who control their instruments and the vocalist is well at place, aggressive at wishes in his screaming, but without a rather varied singing. The melodic passages are succeeding to much more aggressive ones and this whatever the track, with sometimes very present chorus. We have instrumental passages which are well done, sometimes acoustic. The track which can be taken out of this album by his different side is « I Can Sea The Seller », rather acoustic with clear vocals, I find it rather successful. To be short it is a solid first album that gives us her A Poetic Yesterday and which lets presage good things for the group.
For the 36 Crazyfists, Killswitch Engage fans.
