Season Of Mist/Replica Records Release on april 21st 2008
Tracklist “Restless”: Restless Trial Mirror, Mirror Lift Me Up Please, Come On In Lovin'wife Crash Give It Away From My Window Losing My Religion “Restless” is the third album from the french group Karelia. I had appreciated the first two previous albums of the group and even if this one is neatly less symphonic than the two others, and if the electro side has taken “the first place” it does still is that “Restless” is an album that I appreciate. Here the group shows us its different influences and its different musical sides… electro/Indus, dance, and gothic, a little symphonic (very little)… From the first track « Restless » Karelia sends us in a world where the keyboards are very present as « Trial » send us right on the dancefloor , a title which should well worked with its metal Indus side. « Mirror, Mirror » is a well rhythmed and powerful track at the same time. Matthieu’s vocals are very varied, melodic, and powerful with sometimes certain aggressiveness depending on the tracks. We have two covers, one from Moby « Lift Me Up » and « Losing My Religion » from REM, both well done. The melodies are very catchy, very ‘dancing”, well rhythmic. The compositions have classic structures. At the end it is a very great quality album, varied and catchy that gives us Karelia but the symphonic side that I had appreciate in the previous albums has disappeared and it is a little too bad because he was thinking that Matthieu’s powerful voice was going rather well with this style. Line up : Matthieu Kleiber (chant) (vocals) Erwan Morice (guitare) (guitars) Jack Ruetsch (guitare) (guitars) Gilles Thiebaut (basse) (bass) Loïc Jenn (batterie) (drums) Contacts : http://www.karelia.fr/ http://www.myspace.com/kareliaband
