Without being fundamentally innovative, we can say that this second album « The Dream » from the group In This Moment is a success. I do not know if this album is a concept album but at least it takes more or less Alice In Wonderland’s themes. The group, leads by its front woman Maria Brink ensures on the vocals level as well that on the musical one. Of course I prefer far from it when Maria sings in clear voice, the great majority of the vocals, than with core vocals, like in « Her Kiss » for example, the core vocals do not bring anything to the track… I do not even see the interest of it as she has a powerful, strong, well at place and melodic clear voice ! The tracks are heavy in their great majority and relatively melodic. The album is relatively well structure with heavy and powerful tracks, tracks with oriental influences and even a ballad « Into The Light », with voice and piano.
The album has the benefit of a very great production quality giving even more impact to the tracks. They are at the same time aggressive and melodic with a lot of power from the twin guitars and a rhythmic section well at place and efficient.
« The Dream » is a solid album which lets presages good things for In This Moment’s future.
