I did not know this argentine group Patan and however the group is not at its first album as it is actually its fourth one. “Conquista” is a melodic power heavy metal album. Gabriel Oliverio’s vocals are powerful, melodic all keeping an aggressive aspect. Moreover he has a very wide vocal range; he can go very high in the high pitches notes. Musically the tracks are heavy and well rhythmed. The guitars playing are melodic, sometimes in harmony. The riffs are heavy, powerful and efficient, very often melodic and the soli are well done. The songs have frequent changing in rhythm and the atmospheres are numerous. The compositions are worked with guitars playing which are making them more “attractive”. To note that the lyrics are in Spanish. The song « Al borde » is a tribute to Norbert « Pappo » Napolitano, argentine guitar hero argentin who died in a car accident in 2004.
I admit having pleasantly be surprise by this « Conquista » and if all the songs are well done, a special mention in this album goes to « El Camino » for its vocals and instrumental melodies and for its harmonies.
Patan is a group to discover.
