Tracklist « Taste Of Fire » :
Song For The Glory
Forever My Queen
Rock Suicide
Iron Horse/Born To Lose

The french doom metal group, Rising Dust, comes back this year with a four titles EP “Taste Of Fire”. The group has been created in 1992 but has split between to come back in 2002. The doom of Rising Dust find its foundations and its influences in the 70s groups such as Black Sabbath, Saint Vitus, Pentagram, … the compositions stay classic and the two tracks of this EP « Song For The Glory » and « Rock Suicide » are just simply excellent with well heavy and powerful riffs and a well present bass. The rhythmic section is well at place perfectly rhythmed each of the tracks, and giving well the changing in rhythm. David’s vocals (former Dark White) are perfect, well at place, in phase with each of the tracks. The two other titles are covers; one is « Forever My Queen » from Pentagram and « Iron Horse/Born To Lose » from Motorhead, both are well interpreted on the vocals level as well as on the instrumental one.
It is an excellent EP, with tracks that should always be played and interpreted for doom music. However it is too bad that there aren’t more tracks, compositions of their own … I can only recommend it to you if you like doom metal.

Line up :
David (chant/guitare) (vocals/guitars)
Steff (basse) (bass)
Mehdi (batterie) (drums)
