“Milorg” is the new album from Vreid. “Milorg” is the name of a Norwegian resistance group during the WW2 and this album is a tribute. The black metal of the group is much worked and this album is not only for the black metal fans, on the contrary we have passages which rather sound heavy metal even black’n’roll which are aside pure black metal parts. The guitars work is huge on the sound level as well that on riffs and the melodies. The tracks have sometimes the benefit of complex arrangements. Each of the compositions has long instrumental parts which are much worked, with a little progressive side. We also have soli, sometimes in arpeggio, which are rather good. On this album are mix an unhealthy, dark and cold side and a more heavy and melodic one. The vocals are well at place, furious but there are also some clean vocals like in « Alarm » or « Disciplined ». The musicians are good and control their instruments.
At the end we have an album with varied atmospheres and ambiences which could please a lot of metal heads others than black metal fans.
