Tracklist « Songs Of Yore » acoustic :
Folkearth has released this year two albums and “Songs Of Yore » is the second that I review after « Father Of Victory »…such a prolific group. The particularity of this group with the folk/pagan metal style is that the members are all coming from the entire world (not always the same ones) and are all coming from different groups. This album is entirely acoustic, with folk acoustic and traditional instruments and the arrangements give purely folk tracks. We find flutes, Celtic harp, acoustic guitars, banjo, mandolin, bodran, bagpipe, violin and accordion. The tracks are coming principally from the last album « Father Of Victory ». we have female and male vocals which give a different style depending of their manner of singing. The vocals are well at place and successful in the great majority. At the end it is album nice to listen because it is varied. The melodies are beautiful and the instrumental passages beautiful. Some tracks are melancholic, others more contemplative, with ballads. The song I prefer on this album is « The Iron Wolf » I like the way of singing with the bagpipes, track which sounds very Celtic … Ah hard to make abstraction of one’s origins ;) Musically it is also very pleasant to listen real acoustic instruments which are well put by the production of this album.
