Frozen Cross is a young chinese power/symphonic metal and has released last year its album « Frozen Heaven ». The vocals are in Chinese (mandarin) in great majority. The vocals are shared between two vocalists and the singing is very lyrical as both are sopranos and we also have some male growls. All being very good vocalists, the vocals are very high pitched and not much varied, at some exceptions. I find this too bad having two vocalists of this quality and having so little varied vocals … too much in the high pitched notes …. Musically it is really great !!! The symphonic of the group is powerful with keyboards which are spinning around along the tracks. They know also to be piano, even spinet or harpsichord and I liked this little musical difference. The compositions have superb symphonic intros at keyboards, tracks beside very fast as a whole. If the keyboards are very present, the guitar is not at rest with heavy, powerful and melodic riffs and some soli rather well placed, however I do think that the coming of a second guitar would bring more power and different guitars playing. The rhythmic section is efficient, fast and solid. The compositions are very good with good musical arrangements and a great musical variety with catchy melodies. The group has a real potential and own to be better known because frankly if you’re fans of powerful symphonic metal it is an album which should please you. Just for information, the group does not possess a bilingual site; all is in Chinese … too bad …
