Shadowkeep has released “The Hourglass Effect”. The style of the English group is a progressive heavy metal. A new singer has arrived since the last album released six years ago, Richie Wicks (Tygers Of Pan Tang/Angel Witch) and his voice goes perfectly with the style of the group. A powerful and melodic voice at the same time and rather well varied. The tracks are melodic and powerful, with heavy and progressive passages in their structures which are sometimes very complex; moreover the musicians have a certain technique. There are a lot of rhythmic variations and soli with good guitars playing from the two guitarists, who also give acoustic guitars passages. « How Many Times Have We Tried To Save The World » is a superb ballad at piano, all in feeling, very well interpreted by Richie.
Moreover we also find a lot of choirs in the compositions.
Without being exceptional « The Hourglass Effect » is a good album that the progressive fans should appreciate.

Line up :
Richie Wicks (chant) (vocals)
Nikki Robson (guitare) (guitars)
Chris Allen (guitare) (guitars)
Stony Grantham (basse) (bass)
Scott Higham (batterie) (drums)
