For her 25 years career Doro releases a new album “Fear No Evil”. It is an album with traditional songs, with ballads, fast tracks, mid tempos, and some of them sound like real anthems. The album begins with a «The Night Of The Warlock » which is certainly one of the heavier and epic tracks of this album … but I find the refrain too much repetitive… the tracks are simple and direct but I find that besides the power of the guitars, they are lacking of “punch”. Moreover I do not find that the texts are much worked, the refrains are too much repetitive and the texts are lacking of some substance. The tracks which can be taken out are « The Night Of The Warlock » for its epic side, « Herzblut » which is a superb ballad, sang in German, « Walking With The Angels » because I find her vocals well placed on this song.
« Fear No Evil » is an album which will very certainly please Doro’s fans, but personally it does not mark me more than that.
