Tracklist “As The Path Unfolds …” :
« As The Path Unfolds … » is the first album from the young Finnish group Crimfall and I can tell you that it is a success and a masterpiece in the style ! Crimfall’s style is an epic folk metal as it is said on the promo, but not only, it is much more than that, we have great symphonic influences and the group mixes epic, folk, symphonic, power and black/folk metal parts with intelligence and coherence. The album is an epic journey that we discover along the tracks. The symphonic arrangements are much worked and just simply superb. The album begins with « Neothera Awakening », an instrumental intro, atmospheric and epic which sends us directly on « The Crown Of Treason » where we discover a musical mix made of symphonic, power and black/folk metal but also the voices of the two vocalists: Helena Haaparanta, superb lyric and powerful voice, who has a very wide vocals range, and Mikko Häkkinen with his growls. The two voices are in harmony and are completing perfectly themselves. All through this album you won’t be deceived if you like powerful and melodic music, as each of the tracks has atmospheric, symphonic, folk passages, powerful and the orchestrations are much worked and of excellent quality. The folk passages, properly speaking use instruments such as the violin, cello, accordion and very certainly other instruments. The album has the benefit of an excellent production’s quality giving well back each of the instruments whatever they are folk or metal. It is an album that I can just recommend you and if the next albums are of this quality I can ensure you that the group has nice days to come in front of him !!!
