Tracklist « Sombre Crépuscule » :
Dissidence is a Canadian death metal group with progressive influences and their EP “Sombre Crépuscule” has been released in 2006. « Sombre Crépuscule" contains four tracks for a 20 minute length. The group’s death metal is relatively complex and progressive in the structure of the tracks with very well done guitars parts and soli which are also well done. The group has a new bass player, Kevin B. Tremblay, David died from a cancer, besides this EP is an hommage to him. All being aggressive, especially on the vocals side, the death metal always keep a melodic side. I think that the coming of a second guitarist brings more power to the tracks. The bass is much present in each of the compositions which are full of feeling. The guitar knows to be melodious or on the contrary more direct. The rhythmic section is present, especially the bass, as I’ve already said it, but the drums are lacking of some sound. Carol’s death vocals are well at place, even if personally I find them a little monotonous. The lyrics are understandable whatever they are in French or in English, with worked texts that you’ll have to listen. The tracks are complex in their structures and relatively worked.
