Heorot is a pagan/folk/Viking Finnish metal group created in 2002 by Teemu « Modsognir » Ollikainen who died in 2006. The other musicians of the group have decided to continue Heorot because it is what would have wanted Modsognir. Besides mostly of the lyrics of « Ragnarök » have been written by him. The tracks are epic, melodic and relatively fast. Timo’s vocals are appropriate to the style, well at place. The melodies are well folk, epic with good and nice instrumental passages especially at acoustic guitars or at flute. The songs are lively and very pleasant to listen with catchy melodies. The lyrics are all in Finnish.
It is a good first album which let presage good things for the group if it continues with good quality compositions.
