“Ashes And Madness” is the second album of the American group Avian. The style of the album is a heavy/power metal with progressive influences. The tracks are powerful, for the great majority they are mid tempos with some changing in rhythmic. The compositions are well structured and good ones. The melodies are pleasant to listen, relatively lively. We have very worked keyboards parts, as well as the guitars soli are excellent and worked. They are musicians who control their instruments. Vocally, nothing to say Lance King ensures with brio his vocals parts, as he already has done it in his other groups (Balance Of Power, Pyramaze, Gemini, etc…), it is a voice that I always appreciate to listen. It is an album that I appreciate from the beginning to the end, so it is hard for me to take out one track rather than another one, but the instrumental « Fall From Grace » is excellent with the playing of the two guitars, one electro acoustic, the other one electric.
The album ends with the longest track « Time And Space Part II : Unlock The Mystery », more than 10 minutes. Excellent track which shows us all the creative capacity and of writing of the group.
An album that I can only recommend you if you like the style.
