Tracklist “Soul Stealer” :
Soul Stealer comes from Lithuania and has released some months ago its first self named album“Soul Stealer”. The vocalist of the group is not an unknown for those who follow the Eurovision Contest as Jeronimas Milius has represent his country, the Lithuania, at this contest last may. As well, those who know Obtest, know Enrikas Slavinskis, guitarist who has played in this group. The style of Soul Stealer is a melodic heavy power metal with great progressive influences. The tracks are progressive, apart from their length but also by their structures and atmospheres and rhythmic changing. Vocally, I really love Jeronimas voice, perfectly controlled voice, powerful, strong, well at place and melodic and which can go very high in the high pitched notes, you’ll just have to listen the chorus, among others, to be convinced … He also can go very low in the low pitched notes, and makes me think to some Italians vocalists. The compositions are well constructed with good musical arrangements but some are more powerful than other especially « The Reaper », « Broli Uz Broli », « Vampire Woman » or « Dar Nevelu ». The keyboards are very present in each of the songs, they are even at the base of these ones but the guitar is heavy and powerful and the rhythmic section is efficient. The vocals are in great majority in Lithuanian as two songs are in English, it is however not a problem and I even have the feeling that this give a “festive” side to the songs. Personally I like this “Soul Stealer” as it is a good album with an excellent vocalist and I can only recommend it to you if you like this metal style. I am awaiting with impatience a second album of the group.
