Kolony records/Murmur Promotions Release : march 16th 2009
Tracklist “sombre Gates” : Oracle Heretic Corruption Purgatory Ruins of Despair Apocalypse Spawn of Evil Crawling The Hellfire Madness Utopia Seeds of Aggression Forsaken Wrath of Sekhmet
The Cold Existence is a melodic death metal group which comes from Sweden and their second album « Sombre Gates » has been released. If the influences of the group, that is to say At The Gates, Dark Tranquillity, etc… are present, the group knows to create its own sound with very heavy riffs and rhythmic of course typical but aggressive and the ambiences are dark. Jan Sallander’s vocals are much varied, fast singing, growls and sometimes nearly black metal vocals. The riffs stay powerful, fast and melodic and the compositions are in great majority fast even very fast. We can find some tracks with oriental riffs and rhythmic like in « Ruins Of Despair » and « Hellfire ». Even if the album is well conceived as a whole, I have find it relatively long but it is nearly one hour length … To discover if you like the style.
Line up : Jan Sallander (chant/guitare) (vocals/guitars) Robert Persson (guitare) (guitars) Peter Laustsen (basse) (bass) Joakim Antonsson (batterie) (drums)
