Toby Knapp (Onward) is a guitars virtuoso who has released with Rock It Up « Misanthropy Divine », this is his third solo album. Toby’s influences are, among others, guitarists such as
Marty Friedman, Joe Stump, Tony MacAlpine. We find shred, and still shred all through the tracks, with a lot of feeling. The guitars arrangements are very good and very good quality ones. Toby mixes cheerfully in this album power or thrash metal passages, others more speed but also fusion even jazzy parts, the whole with a lot of coherence and talent. It is himself who has written the music and the lyrics and arrangements of the tracks. Deen Sternberg (Into Eternity/Within Another) is an excellent vocalist who interprets with talent the compositions. We have two bonuses at the end, « Misanthropy’s reprise » where Toby himself sings. This an album where technique and worked guitar is the queen !
