HOLY Records 01/2009
Stille Volk has released some months ago its last opus “Nueit De Sabbat” with Holy Records. For those who would not know the group, their style is a pagan medieval music using true & original folk instruments. If some musics are festive, energetic and dynamic, the cause is especially coming from the using of instruments such as bagpipe, vielle, flutes and other folks instruments, because the lyrics are far from being happy and festive. The texts are dark, inspired by sorcerers, feasts, orgy and barbaric games, the whole sang in French and in Occitan. The tracks are very varied and rich musically speaking. the using of “true” instruments gives a particular dimension to the tracks and this one is very varied. The compositions are worked, on the melodies and the texts levels. The vocals are very successful and in phase with the music. When you are listening you can think to the Germans from Corvus Corax. If you want to go in a past which has been yours some times ago, this « Nueit De Sabbat » will send it to you without any complex. This is an album which can listen and listen again without any problem as the songs are well linked together one another and you won’t get bored. I can only recommend it to you.
