Blackguard is a Canadian epic folk metal group. The group has been the winner of the contest organised for the “myspace” by Nuclear Blast in 2008. « Profugus Mortis » is the first album of the group. The tracks are energetic and relatively fast. The guitars and the keyboards seem to be in perpetual “dual” in the tracks because we have at turn passages of each instrument. The compositions stay classic for the style and are rather well done. The style can be approach of Finntroll and other groups of the genre’s style. The instrumental passages are worked with fast rhythmic. Paul Ablaze’s vocals go well with the style and are rather varied and efficient. Without being innovative neither exceptional « Profugus Mortis » is a good album if you appreciate the style.
