Pandea , and “Soylent Green” is born from the project of the singer and guitar player Dan Uhden (Merlin/Mind Odyssey/Dark Voices). This project can be called a metal/rock opera as he is surrounded with 16 musicians. This concept is based on the 1973 movie “Soylent Green” the movie was based on a detective character but this music from Pandea is more like future, environmental degradation, lacking of food, etc… I do not know the movie so I can’t say why the album took this title…
The style of it is melodic power heavy metal with epic influences. The songs are well composed, solid and melodic passages are nice to listen. The musicians know their work and you’ll find great and well done guitar soli. But for those who like keyboards you won’t be deceived, they also have their place especially in the background melodies! I recommend the album.
