Pure Steel Records

Holy Cross has released last year its album “Under The Flag” with Pure Steel Records. The style of the group is speed/classic melodic heavy metal coming from the 80s. Those who like the style won’t be deceived because it is a good album and besides, those who already know the group, know 7 songs of the 10 : "Iron Horse", "Twilight Of The Gods", "The Last Survivors", "Holy Cross" (the four titles from the demo) as well as "The Fortress Of Asgard", "Gates Of Time" and "Hel The Damned". You can feel that the influences of the group are groups such as Iron Maiden, Blind Guardian, Accept, Wizard, etc… The lyrics are dealing with tales, fantasy, sorcery etc… the vocalist’s voice is powerful, right, aggressive when needed and more soft when needed but his “English” accent isn’t “terrible”. There are nice twin guitars soli which I do appreciate particularly! The rhythmic section is powerful as well as the riffs which are efficient as well as powerful. The songs are worked but they could maybe more work because I’m sure the group is able to do better.
To note as guests Chitral Somapala, Civilization One’s vocalist (former Avalon/former Firewind among others), and Pierre Emmanuel Pelisson (Civilization One/former Heavenly) at bass.
If you haven’t bought it yet, it is a miss; if you have it already I’m sure you are appreciate it.
