Pervade Promotions/Gofannon Records 04/2010
This album "So Solid" is the second one of the group Solid State. It begins by “Curtain Raiser” that we could consider as an intro to the album because it is short and it is played in a classical musical manner by a classical orchestra. The style of the group is a good melodic hard rock sometimes in the manner of the Bon Jovi from the 80s, Kiss... You’ll have mid tempos; others are more fast and powerful and others are sounding more of the 80s hard rock like “A Place In Your Life”. For me this album is a well balanced one. Another special song: “I Hate You” which bring you in the times of jazz with trumpet, piano etc… surely far from hard rock. The following song “Vegas Legagcy” has some flamenco variations in the tempo. As the album has begun with an instrumental, it ends the same, with orchestral music. It is surely not an album with which you get boring as there are so many styles. Vocally speaking, all is well at place and well done, the vocalist control perfectly his voice. Moreover the musicians are not at rest, they control their instrument. To finish this review “So Solid” is a solid, rich album by the styles that can be even be richer in the writing of the compositions, let’s wait the third one.
