"Esoterica" from the Greek/Swedish group Karmic Link is a concept album like the first one. This one is dealing with a young person named Sandra, who is living with different paranormal phenomenons but it is hard to see that that it is a concept album. The style of the group is heavy/dark gothic metal with a progressive tendency. The guitars are heavy, much present and give well done soli but the keyboards are still well present and give nice instrumental layers, but on most of the songs there is a good balance between them and the guitars even if they have the benefit of good musical arrangements. The female vocalist has a nice and powerful voice, well at place but she does not convince me on some songs because she doesn’t have an exceptional voice. You’ll also find male voices. I admit having hard time listening at once several times the album because I get boring before the middle. The track that I prefer is "Pleasure is nothing without Pain", the seven one which is an instrumental with violin, keyboards, changing in the rhythm. Some songs have dissonant parts, soli, electro passages, Goth passages, etc… It is not, for me an album which will stay in my mind but you‘ll might like it.
