Pitch Black Records 2009
Prodigal Earth, a group from Cyprus, has released last year its album “Zenith II Zero”. The album is a mix of melodic and power heavy metal. The members of the group are all coming from other groups. The vocalist, Nicholas Leptos, sings also in the group Diphteria and Arryan Path. He has a superb voice which goes perfectly with the style of the group. It is a first solid album with heavy riffs, much varied, rather well done soli and good guitars harmonies. Some compositions are rather well done but others aren’t particularly a success but as a whole I cannot say that the album is not a success because you’ll find some progressive parts and nice melodic parts. Not that this album has a bad production but I think it could have been better. “Zenith II Zero” ends with a ballad “Pro Defunctis” with string and woodwind with an orchestration full of feelings. As a bonus you’ll an alternate version of this song with Nicholas Leptos in duet with Marilena Solomou. It is an album that the power metal fans should like.
