The group Winterborn was first a cover band called Mean Machine, then in 2004 they change their name for Winterborn. For their second opus the line is Teemu Koskela at vocals, Pasi Vapola at guitars,  Antti Hokkala at guitars, Jukka Hänninen at keyboards, Pasi Kauppinen at bass guitars and Lauri Bexar at drums. The style is a mix of power and heavy melodic metal and others influences.
The songs are heavy and strong. Musically the compositions are rather good, with good harmonies. The guitars are well at place and give powerful riffs and good soli. The vocalist is rather good, with a powerful and strong voice. The compositions of this album are well varied so you do not get bored. “Overture 1939” is certainly the most beautiful song of the album, with a lot of feeling, with voice and acoustic guitars, a kind of ballad but not on love but on war, followed by “The Winter War” which is much more heavier and stronger. The last song “Another World” is an epic track, 10 mn one, in which you will find several musical styles. To make it short, it is a good balanced album that I recommend you.
