Sometimes I really feel lucky getting incredible & underground stuff to review ! I’ve known this band during the first part of the 90’s and already I felt this band had a huge potential & incredible sense of song writing ! Bad luck happened and the band disbanded in the middle of the 90’s after having however shared the stage with great & famous bands like OVERKILL, KING’S X, WARGASM, SAVATAGE to name a few. This CD, released 10 years after the split, features 8 must-have songs of this Boston/Usa based band… songs from the demos. Musically this is a really interesting band, because able to compose very varied songs that never lose any energy with numerous strong & different emotions… If I has to name a few band names in order to give the comparison, I’d say Iron Maiden, Rush, Judas Priest, Fates Warning, Metallica (« Master Of Puppets» era), Trouble, Sepultura, Black Sabbath… something between power, heavy, prog’, thrash & stoner doom… Always well-combined, the songs mix heavy, fast parts with slower & melodious ones… really very catchy ! Killer rhythmics, very well-worked guitar solos… and the voice (the one of John Falzione, also singer in STEEL ASSASSIN) perfectly fits and brings its batch of emotions as on the songs “The Life That’s Left” that I considered as one ot the best songs ever written (and not only from Triphammer !) or still the one that ends the Cd : “Early Grave”. Everyhitng here is made with class and professionalism and I would have logically ended this review by saying the band’s split is a huge waste… but no, the band got reformed last year for my greatest pleasure !!! This CD is for you the opportunity to discover one of the best bands that the underground scene has always kept preciously. Let’s hope they get the recognition they really deserve !!!
