Circle II Circle has just released its fifth album “Consequence Of Power”. The group is led by the former Savatage frontman Zak Stevens. The style of the group is melodic power metal.
Zak Stevens is a vocalist that I appreciate; he has a powerful, strong and straight voice. I admit having been deceived by the previous album of the group “Delusions Of Grandeur”. The songs are more rock than in the previous albums, with less present keyboards and more strong guitars riffs. Personally I find the songs less melodic, they aren’t catchy. I cannot take one song rather than another one.  The story of the album is a concept album. The lyrics deal with a complicated a deep concept about things that happen and on which we do not have much control of, and about a character that is centrally involve against his will, into this cycle of madness and power. I won’t say I like the album because very little parts have caught me; even Zak’s voice annoys me but I cannot say that it is a bad album. The album is unequal as a whole and the production is not at its best.
I think that those who appreciate Savatage and even the first Circle II Circle might like this one.
