Cyril Achard is a french guitar player. He has been absent from the scene for nearly seven years. He is back now with his new album “Violencia”. Cyril plays progressive/fusion with a jazz side. It is sure that he is a talented guitarist. He possesses all the technique needed but he never forgives the melodic side. The compositions are nice to listen, accessible for most of them. “Violencia” is an entire instrumental album. However the tracks are varied and the compositions have their own atmospheres and sound. Cyril is surrounded for this album with Eric Lebailly at drums and Franck Hermanny at bass guitar from the Adagio group. The sound of this album is like the group was searching in a garage with the qualities and the defaults, with a raw sound. The guitar is often distorted, more or less. The compositions are heavy with rhythmic changing not also easy to follow.
So if you like instrumental album you’ll probably like this one but if you do not, there’s a lot of chance that you’ll find it boring !
