Immortality is the principal theme of the new album “The Futile Quest For Immortality” from Anachronaeon. The style of the group is still death/dark melodic metal with progressive influences. The group is formed with Patrick Carlsson and Andreas Akerlind. The compositions are energetic in a black/dark metal manner and the melodies and epic. The album has the benefit of a very good production. As I said in the beginning of this review this album is a concept album without being a concept album about Immortality and mankind through a misanthropic perspective. The songs are well structure and you’ll find speed and slow parts, speed and heavy metal influences and dark metal ones and I think there are less clean vocals and more grunts parts that on the first album. Some songs such as “The Futile Quest” are really well done but others are just an average. Besides all their influences they have their own sound. You’ll make your own choice.
