Black Widow

Sophya Baccini is the Presence’s group vocalist and has been a guest on two progressive albums. “Aradia” is her first solo album. The style of this album is symphonic/progressive metal. She is the main vocalist but she also plays piano, keyboards and mellotron. She has a great range of vocals, she can use varied elements and electronic with her voice. She sings in Italian, French, and English. The album has being entirely composed by Sophya, musically and vocally speaking. The style is rather operatic, dark and progressive. You will find some guest such as Martin Grice (Delirium), Lino Vairetti (Osanna) and Stefano Vicarelli (Fonderia). The compositions are in fact a concept album based on a tale on friendship between women (the story of a woman who finds herself helping and saving another woman). As I’ve already said the lyrics are in French, English and Italian. The music is also varied because you’ll find influences coming from jazz to classic music, to rock and all that can have between. Some parts are really great, grandiose, and melodic. You’ll have instruments such as violin, accordion, flute, etc. Sophya’s vocals are nice, powerful and melodic. It is not an easy album to follow because there are a lot of different and varied musical ideas. It is a very well done and sophisticated album. The best for you is to go on her myspace and listen to the music.
